Continuing education & specialty workshops

We believe that knowledge comes from many different sources, so each month we bring in a special guest instructor to lead a 3-hour workshop. These are leading professionals from the martial arts, stage, and film communities that come to share their expertise. By bringing these experts to southeast Michigan, we make learning from other teachers and about different movement styles more accessible to the local community.

Class Description:
This is a two part workshop:

Part 1: Accessible Parkour for Performers by Joe Wright.

Parkour is about getting from point A to point B -efficiently-, so by that definition it should be accessible to everyone. Let’s explore a toolkit of movement options so we can learn how to move through space in ways that are both approachable AND visually interesting! Joe is not only an instructor with Theatrica Gladiatoria, but he is also a World Freerunning and Parkour Federation level 2 coach.

Part 2: Simple Made Super by Tammy Everett

We'll be pairing unarmed techniques with some foundational stunt and parkour techniques to create a dramatic scene. Let's explore how to make solid, precise fight choreography look hard hitting, and dynamic. Get ready to sweat!
