Foundational, syllabus-based class series that occur throughout the year that are perfect for a beginner just getting into stage combat or someone wanting to expand their practice!

 

Foundations of Stage Swordplay

Class Dates: Tuesdays starting Sept 12th, 2023, 7-9pm

Cost: $300 ($250 if signed up before Labor Day!) - Payment plans are available via arrangement if you contact us.

Class Description:
Perfect for beginners! No prior acting training or movement background required! For ages 18+ (16 with parental permission and instructor acceptance).

Swordfighting and storytelling are the best of friends! From Treasure Island, to Star Wars, to Shakespeare there is nothing that can transcend language barriers more than physical action!

Join us and learn how to put on a storytelling swordfight! This foundations class will cover topics such as:

  • Characters: Objectives, Actions, Obstacles.

  • Stance and Movement

  • Direct & Indirect Attacks/Defenses

  • Performance of the Moment

  • Safety in Performance

  • Best Rehearsal Practices

  • Partnering

Class size is limited to 10 (a minimum of 6 required or purchases will be refunded).

Class Protocols:

  • Behavior that is detrimental to the safety of participants or the space itself will be grounds for immediate course dismissal with no refund given.

  • This is an indoor practice and masks (maintaining coverage of the mouth and nose, quality determined by the instructor) will be required. No exceptions.

  • Please stay home if you are ill. Make-up instruction can be arranged.
